What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a strong, stable, and natural-looking way to replace missing teeth, restore your smile and enhance your quality of life. They are placed into your jaw, fusing with the surrounding bone to form a solid foundation for a bespoke crown or bridge fixed on top. Titanium is used for dental implants as it is very well tolerated by the body and offers a long-term solution.

Using innovative methods and high quality materials, we can use implants to help you regain the look, feel and function of natural teeth. Your restoration blends seamlessly into your existing teeth, and the dental implant can be fitted with no detrimental effects on the surrounding teeth. Over 95% of implant cases are successful, with excellent oral care leading to long-term results.

What does dental implant treatment involve?

  1. Dental Implants

    Consultation

Your dental implant treatment at Bright Dental Care begins with a comprehensive consultation. We discuss the procedure in detail, find out your ideal results, and give you the chance to ask any questions. Your consultation also includes a 3D X-ray, which we use to help confirm you are suitable for dental implants.

    Planning

We use our advanced digital equipment to help create your bespoke treatment plan, taking into account your dental needs and personal preferences. We outline the precise positions for your dental implants and explain everything to you. If you need an advanced procedure, such as a bone graft or sinus lift, this is planned and carried out.

  3. Dental Implants

    Implant placement

On the day of your treatment, our oral surgeon inserts the implants into your jaw during a surgical appointment. We use local anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort, and can use sedation if you are feeling particularly nervous. The implant surgery is relatively short, but several months are needed to allow your implants to integrate with your jaw bone. To protect your gum during this time, we fit a temporary restoration.

  4. Patient with mirror

    Your new smile

When your dental implants have successfully fused to your jawbone and created a solid foundation, we can fit your final crown or bridge. This is custom-made to your exact specifications, ensuring a seamless blend into your smile. To finish, we give you some long-term care advice to keep your implant problem-free.

Bone grafts

Bone grafts are used to increase the likelihood of successful dental implant placement. If a 3D scan reveals a lack of density or volume in your jawbone, your implants will not be able to fuse and integrate properly. We can add bone graft material to improve your jaw bone density and enable dental implants to be an option for you.

Sinus lifts

If you are missing teeth in the upper back area of your mouth, enough bone support needs to be present to place dental implants. A sinus lift can increase bone volume by raising your sinuses and adding the bone material needed for successful dental implant treatment.

PRGF

PRGF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) can be used in dental implant treatment to speed up healing and reduce pain for a more comfortable recovery period. It uses your own blood plasma, enriched with growth factor hormones, and is a safe way to elevate healing with successful outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

Dental implants are designed to be a permanent solution, lasting for many years with the proper long-term care. In many cases, your implants will last the rest of your life! The teeth fixed on top of your implants may need to be replaced over time, but the implants themselves are durable and long-lasting.
