What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a fast, effective and pain-free way to transform the appearance of one or more teeth, or even your whole smile. A composite resin material is applied directly to your teeth, able to change the shape and size without the need for invasive treatment that affects the health of your teeth.

Composite bonding is suitable for most patients, and doesn’t require any lengthy treatment times or healing periods. If you’re looking for a fast smile makeover, need to repair damage or chipped teeth, or wish to mask a discoloured tooth, teeth bonding is a great cosmetic option for a stunning and confident new smile.

What does composite bonding treatment involve?

  1. Composite Bonding

    Consultation

We begin your composite bonding treatment with a detailed consultation. We ask you what you want to change or enhance about your teeth, and let you know if composite bonding is a suitable option for you. We explain the treatment process in detail and give you the chance to ask us any questions.

  2. Composite Bonding

    Preparation

To make sure your treatment goes as smoothly as possible, we colour-match the composite material to the exact shade of your natural teeth, or select a brighter colour if you prefer. We also take a picture of your ‘before’ smile so we can show you the difference once treatment is complete!

  3. Composite Bonding

    Bonding

At the start of your teeth bonding appointment, we dry your tooth or teeth and apply an acidic gel to create a rough surface. This allows the composite to bond strongly and effectively. Once ready, we apply the composite material in layers, gradually building up the desired shape.

  4. Patient with mirror

    Smile!

We harden the composite material in place using a blue curing light. It sets immediately, so no downtime is needed. To finish, we give your teeth a professional polish so they look shiny and smooth, and reveal your new smile!
