Inlays & Onlays

What does the treatment involve?

We begin by carefully removing any areas of decay or old fillings from your tooth before cleaning it thoroughly.

We take accurate digital images and impressions of your tooth, which are used to create your custom inlay or onlay. This happens either at a dental laboratory or in our practice while you wait using our CEREC machine.

If your inlay or onlay is being created off-site, we fit a temporary restoration on your tooth to protect the cavity between appointments.

When your inlay or onlay is ready, we check it for fit and comfort before fixing it into place using strong dental adhesive.

Frequently asked questions

Inlays and onlays are made from hard-wearing materials, including porcelain and composite resin, and if aesthetics is not an issue, gold can be used to provide a particularly durable restoration.
