How does teeth whitening work?

Teeth whitening is a popular and very simple way to transform the appearance of your teeth and give you a newly confident smile. The treatment works by using custom-made mouth trays and professional whitening gel to lift stains and discolouration from your teeth without causing any damage to the enamel or structure. All whitening treatments at our practice are carried out with close supervision, so your teeth are in safe hands.

What does teeth whitening treatment involve?

At your initial consultation, we examine your teeth and gums, making sure they are healthy and you are suitable for treatment. We explain the whitening process to you and ask if you have any concerns or questions for us, which we are happy to answer.

We take digital scans and images of your teeth, which are used to create your bespoke whitening trays. Once these are ready, we give you tailored instructions on how to use the trays and whitening gel for the best results.

You wear your whitening trays overnight, or for a short time during the day, for around 2-3 weeks, depending on your individual case. We ensure you have the correct strength of whitening gel to ensure safe treatment.

When you have finished treatment at home, we invite you to the practice to make sure you are happy with your results! We can show you the images we took of your teeth before treatment began to truly see how much they have transformed. We also give you some tips for keeping your teeth white, including top-up treatments.
